Flip Flop #5 and Polish Days Mash Up

Hello ladies :)  I only have one day left in work this week, happy days!  Honestly, what are they even paying me for lol.  I'm going on a visit to Elekta on Thursday, which is a company that make linacs for radiotherapy, so that should be interesting!  For my new followers, I'm a trainee medical physicist by the way :)  Then on Friday I'm going home for a long weekend.  It was my little sister's birthday last Saturday, so I'm going back to spend some time with her shopping and drinking milkshakes.

So anyhoo, today is day 5 of the Flip Flop Challenge, and the theme was 3D or decals.  (As an aside, my right hand is so cold I'm actually struggling to type...time to put the heating on I think!)  Um...yes, so, as it happens, this theme fitted perfectly with the manicure I'd already done for this month's Polish Days!  Is that cheating?

This month's Polish Days theme is nature.  I've been loving The Polar Bear Family and Me on the BBC (I haven't seen the last episode yet, and god help anyone who tries to ruin it for me *glaaaaare*) so I created these cute little polar bear nails!

More velvet nails!

I used Barry M Matt White under the flocking powder, and Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream with a rubbish Saffron glitter that never dries, hence the state of my thumb nail.

I literally love polar bears so much.  The guy on the program got to hold a little baby one, and I don't think I've ever been so jealous of anything ever.  He did also have a bear having a good go at eating him...not so jealous of that one.  If anyone's interested, the program's on You Tube (as I discovered when I went to watch the second episode on BBC iPlayer and it was gone!  Almost ruined my day!).

I drew the face on with a Sharpie.  I then went and did some dishes (a rare occurence) and both face and flocking powder were still intact.

Polish Days: Get Your Bling On!

The more observant amongst you will have noticed I didn't do the last two Polish Days.  I just forgot...  I actually have a calendar on my computer where I write all challenge manicures I'm going to do, I just don't look at it.  It's like when I go shopping; I write a shopping list and take it with me, but I don't look at it until after I've paid and left the shop, to see how well I've done.

But anyway, this month I've remembered!  The theme, appropriately for the festive season, is Get Your Bling On!  And what better than a multicoloured glitter bomb!

This Barry M Amethyst Glitter.  I can't tell you what colours are in there because it's too shiny to be able to tell.  The overall look is quite blue though .  I used 4 coats (I think??) here with no underwear.

And just because blurry pictures of glitter are always fun:

This is my right hand by the way, so sorry for the slightly awkward hand position.  I struggled.

Then I added a star pattern over the top in Barry M Vivid Purple, using the same method I used for my Over The Taupe Stars.  It got a little chunky at this stage, so sorry it's a bit of a mess.

Don't forget to check out all the other bling-tastic nails today!

Polish Days: Geometry

Yes, it's that time again!

This month's theme, in celebration of all the kids going back to school (and me not having to!  Thank goodness I gave up teaching!) is geometry.

I decided to interpret this very literally and draw some triangles.

I used to HATE geometry.  I love the rest of Maths, but geometry...ugh.  Our teacher used to give us like 50 questions to do of the same thing, and we had to draw a diagram for every single questions.  And our diagrams had to be done using a ruler and pencil and all that business.  So this meant when you were doing something like Pythagoras' Theorem, you'd end up drawing like 50 identical right-angled triangles.  ARGH!

Anyway, I used China Glaze Stone Cold (a recent addition to my collection) and a white nail art pen.

And I'm done with my posts for today!  I don't know when I'll next be online, seeing as the NHS haven't been so kind as to provide me with internet access, but hopefully I'll get on again in time to post the next My Favourite Things post on Thursday!

Polish Days: Olympics

Today I'm taking part in Polish Days for the first time.  This month, the theme is Olympics!

Obviously I'm loving all things Olympics at the moment, so what a perfect theme :)

I'm sure you've all noticed that we British have a pretty epic cycling team.  The track cycling is one of my favourite events to watch in the games as well - I like to think because it's fast-paced and exciting, but it's probably more to do with the fact I like watching us win lots of medals.  So anyhoo, for these reasons, I decided to have a go at some velodrome nails.

There's Team GB out for a little cycle.  Probably winning a gold medal.  For the track I used China Glaze Kalahari Kiss.  The light blue is Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream and the darker one is 17 Seabreeze.  If you want to know what any of the other colours are just ask in the comments :)

Have a look at all the other amazing ladies nails:
