31 Day Challenge - Day 27: Inspired by Artwork

A little while ago, before I started blogging, I posted a manicure on Facebook.  One of my friends commented that I was "getting quite Piet Mondrian", so he seemed as good an artist as any to inspire today's manicure.

This is what I based my manicure on:

And here are the nails!

I was really really pleased with these, but then my topcoat smudged them - argh!

I used a base of Barry M Matt White, added blocks of colour in OPI Cherry Chick Flick, China Glaze Man Hunt and Rimmel Sunshine, before painting on the black lines with a nail art pen.

Have you ever done a manicure inspired by artwork?  Where do you normally get your inspiration from?

  1. lol I did the same! I love that you made the blocks exactly as the painting. Mine are random. Too bad it smudged though, it happens to me very often too :(

  2. I really love where you get your inspiration from! (Ie the art, clothing) This soo so cool :) Shame about the smudging but it looks great regardless :)

  3. Love it! I hate when I work on something and am so impressed then I prematurely add the top coat

    1. I know! We need to learn to be more patient lol.

  4. :)) I have this pattern on my to do list. I love how it looks on your nails, smudging happens to me too, it looks more artistic :)

  5. These are utterly lovely :) Nice work

  6. Love it! His artwork makes for a great mani!

Don't you hate smudging? Good think is it's not half as noticable IRL!

  7. Oh very NICE translation. I love this.

  8. Smudging sucks!! But this turned out great, I'm not even that mad at the smudging - lol!

  9. Great mani!
I hate it when my topcoat smudges my mani!
